The Lancashire Aikikai adopts the following minimum time from the preceding grade before being consider for being graded to:
6th Kyu 30 hours, 5th Kyu 30 hours, 4th Kyu 60 hours, 3rd Kyu 70 hours, 2nd Kyu 80 hours, 1st Kyu 100 hours, 1st Dan 1 year, 2nd Dan 2 years, 3rd Dan, 3 years & 4th Dan 5 years
The Lancashire Aikikai has the following additional requirements for Weapons.
5th Kyu: Ken Uchikomi & 8th to 10th Jo suburi. Or other weapons at least equivalent agreed with your Club leader.
4th Kyu:1st Kumitachi and 1st Jo Kata. Or other weapons at least equivalent agreed with your Club leader.
3rd Kyu: 2nd Kumitachi and 1st & 2nd Kumijo. Or other weapons at least equivalent agreed with your Club leader.
2nd Kyu: 5th Kumitachi and 6th & 7th Kumijo. Or other weapons at least equivalent agreed with your Club leader.
1st Kyu: Demonstrate with ken and jo to show your skills and knowledge through solo and partnered work. Including showing the relationship to ‘body’ aikido.
