Zagi and Tachiwaza: Kokyuho

 

1st Dan

Minimum of 1 years practice from successfully achieving 1st Kyu.

 

Unarmed techniques(zagi, hami-handachi waza, tachi waza) for shoumen-uchi, yokomen-uchi (strikes), tsuki (thrusts).

All forms of grasping shoulders, elbows, collar, wrists and hands; all techniques from the rear)

 



 

2nd Dan

Minimum of 3 years since successfully achieving 1st Dan with more than 200 days of practice


As previous grade plus:

  • Tanto-dori
  • Futarigake (by two ukes)

 

 

3rd Dan

Minimum of 4 years since successfully achieving 2nd Dan with more than 300 days of practice

As previous grade plus:

  • Tachi-dori,
  • Jo-dori
  • Taninzugake (Three or more ukes)

 

4th Dan

Minimum of 5 years since successfully achieving 3rd Dan with more than 400 days of practice


As previous grades plus:


Jiyuwaza for all of previous grades


 


NOTES

  • Be sure you have the required number of practice hours / days between grades stated above. Any grading period is counted from the certificate date not submission date.
  • Attendance on courses will be taken into account when being considered for a grading.
  • Examiner may specify additional techniques as necessary.
